Without a doubt, Expo 2020 will be the most important event in the history of the UAE. It will be a celebration of countries and other participants, which showcase the best they can offer to the World. Therefore, Czech Business Council in Dubai actively follows the plan related to the organization and preparation for this event, attends various meetings and workshops, and regularly shares information with Czech exporters interested in participating in Expo 2020.

To promote the topic of Expo 2020, the Czech Business Council in cooperation with CzechTrade (governmental agency for the support of exporters) organized a seminar for Czech exporters interested in expanding their business activities to Dubai. The seminar was held at the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Tuesday 19th April 2016 and was attended by more than 40 companies.

In his opening speech, Dr. Michal Nedelka – the new director of the Czech Trade office in Dubai – introduced the agency’s possibilities and services to the region’s Czech exporters. Vice President of the Czech Business Council, Mr. Ondrej Soska, introduced Dubai as the business hub of the MENASA region and presented business opportunities for the Czech companies related to the preparation of Expo 2020. He also introduced the eSource online procurement portal and invited the participants to register their companies to participate in various tenders.

The seminar was organized as a follow-up event to the formal interviews with the Expo 2020 Bureau and Dubai South held during the visit of H.E. Jiri Havlicek, First Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, in January 2016. The next seminar for Czech companies is scheduled for autumn 2016 and will provide more details on open tenders and upcoming projects.
