Press Release EXPO 2020
H. E. Reem Al Hashemi, Ministry of International Cooperation and General Director of the Dubai EXPO Bureau 2020 reported on the approved plans and strategies of the exhibition pavilions and the total exposition for EXPO 2020 at the International Planning Meeting (IPM) in Dubai.
A series of seminars related to the organization of the World EXPO 2020 in Dubai was launched at the International Planning Meeting (IPM) organized by the Government Agency EXPO 2020 Dubai at the Emirates Towers in Dubai on 23 and 24 May 2016.
The IPM brought together representatives of countries from all around the world – from diplomatic corporations, national ministries, and chambers of commerce and it became a place where they could see possibilities of participation at EXPO 2020.
There were also representatives of the Czech Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Czech Center, and the CBC in Dubai. Ambassador Aleksandr Vervain and for the Embassy of the Czech Republic it was Petr Vlk. Zdenek Lycka arrived from Prague, especially for this reason, entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic to participate in EXPO 2020.
Mr. Lycka personally accepted the official invitation letter for the Czech Republic to attend EXPO 2020 addressed to Prime Minister Sobotka.
The CBC was presented by its president Pavel Foubik and advisor Ivan Hejtmanek.
The first meeting was held by Reem Al Hashemi, the Ministry for International Cooperation and General Director of the Dubai Expo Bureau 2020, who welcomed guests from the countries participating in EXPO 2020. She has reported on the approved plans and strategies for EXPO Pavilions and expressed confidence that EXPO 2020 will experience extreme success for both participating sites expected to get over 25 million visitors.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed the quests and praised the efforts of EXPO 2020 organizing committees. Shaikh Abdullah welcomed the participating countries and stressed the importance of the foundation for the UAE’s international relations to build a global community based on understanding, dialogue, and mutual respect.
In his speech, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, failed to recall the influence of the World EXPO 2020 on the national economy. The second day of the meeting continued with individual workshops on the topic of detailed elaboration of the individual organizational segments of EXPO, a timeline, a master plan, a detailed scheme of the exhibitor’s pavilions, and the public procurement portal related to EXPO 2020 were presented.

The handover of the first plots to exhibitor countries for the construction of the exhibits is expected in September 2018. The hosting country does not yet envisage the subsequent use of the pavilions after the end of the World’s Fair.
